Dramatic Writing and Lyrics
Hilan has an MFA from NYU in music theater writing, where he was a bookwriter/lyricist. He has written librettos for various orchestral works by his sister, composer Dalit Warshaw, as well as a song cycle by Lera Auerbach and other compositions. He is a member of The Dramatists Guild and ASCAP.

He has written articles and concert notes for Carnegie Hall and other organizations. He is currently writing an article to be published in an upcoming book about Richard Wagner from McFarland Press.
