Hilan Warshaw is a filmmaker and writer living in New York. An experienced video editor, his editing credits include documentaries and specials broadcast on PBS, and projects for institutions including the Library of Congress and Carnegie Hall.
Most recently, he co-edited Shadows in Paradise, a documentary about the writers and musicians who fled the Nazis and settled in Los Angeles. The film premiered in May 2008 on the ARTE network (in Europe), and on KCET in Los Angeles.
He also has a wide-ranging background in theater and music, and wrote librettos for several musical works that have been performed by various orchestras and singers. Hilan has frequently written about music for Carnegie Hall and other organizations. In March, he lectured at Hofstra University about the relationship between film and the operas of Richard Wagner.
He has a BFA with honors in Film & TV from NYU, and an MFA in music theater writing, also from NYU.
